Komatsu Europe has launched the new Komatsu HD785-8 mining heavy dump truck, which offers superior operator comfort and delivers the highest levels of safety, reliability, productivity and maneuverability.

“The new HD785-8 offers superior operator comfort, great travel performance and the renowned Komatsu reliability of the previous model. This new machine is such a pleasure to operate that you may just want to keep the keys at the end of your shift, rather than handing them to the next operator,” - said Juuso Ahola, product manager at Komatsu Europe.

Built for mining applications, the HD785-8 has a payload capacity of 9,2200 kg. The new dump truck is powered by a strong Komatsu SAA12V140E-7 EU Stage V eco-standard 849 kW (1,140 hp) engine. To achieve the EU Stage V standard, the engine utilizes Komatsu's dual diesel particulate filters (KDPF) after treatment, in which most of the regeneration is done passively, without any operator action or interference with the machine. There's no selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and no diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) or AdBlue is required. The HD785-8 dump truck is equipped with a 7-speed, fully automatic transmission with two selectable reverse speeds. Komatsu's advanced transmission with optimal modulation control system (K-ATOMiCS) provides smooth clutch engagement for a comfortable ride and reduced material spillage. The HD785-8 provides quick acceleration out of the quarry and has excellent downhill performance. Wet multi-disc brakes on all wheels provide excellent downhill braking performance. The HD785-8 is equipped with Komatsu Traction Control System (KTCS) as standard, which automatically applies pressure to the independent brake assemblies for optimal traction in varying ground conditions. And automatic idle shutoff reduces unnecessary downtime and operating costs. The dump truck has a turning radius of 10.1 m, giving the HD785-8 exceptional maneuverability during positioning for loading and unloading.

Safety and first-class operator comfort are also among Komatsu's priorities. The HD785-8 is equipped with LED indicators, a ground-level battery, starter and machine lockout switches, and a recently developed new ladder for safe access to the cab. In addition, to enhance safety, the machine comes standard with Komatsu's KomVision system, which displays a 360-degree bird's-eye view on the cab monitor in real time, eliminating any blind spots in the rear and sides of the dump truck. Operator amenities on the HD785-8 include a new ergonomically designed cab with a comfortable control layout and a comfortable environment for even more confident operation and greater productivity. The new fabric-covered, air-suspended seat adjusts to the operator's weight and height and features a heated seat and fan as standard. Thanks to the low-noise engine, large-capacity cab suspensions, hydropneumatic suspension and independent suspension on the front wheels, the noise level in the cab is kept at 72 dBA. To top it all off, the manufacturer has taken care of easy and safe maintenance. Cleaning of the radiator is made easy thanks to the hydraulic radiator fan with reversible mode. A quick-start socket at ground level and a service center with quick disconnect for filling engine, gearbox and brake oil, as well as coolant, further facilitate and ensure safe maintenance. For safety at height, technicians can attach lanyards to attachment points (ISO 14567) that are well positioned around the HD785-8. Key performance, component status and health data on the dump truck can be accessed remotely via the KOMTRAX telematics system or via the upgraded monitor in the operator's cab.
